Experimental Setups
The setup team within the UTPA Railroad Research Group enforces operational safety protocols, maintains testing equipment and facilities, and disassembles and assembles bearings and the test rigs. They design and fabricate testing fixtures required to support the day-to-day operations and activities of the research group. Their responsibilities entail machining, milling, welding, and constructing a variety of components for the testing assemblies, and performing bearing teardowns and inspections. In the process, these students gain valuable hands-on work experience they would generally not be exposed to in their engineering studies, and learn how to troubleshoot mechanical systems.
