Read chapters ahead of time, attend every lecture
and take good notes. Give yourself enough time to
go over the chapters again before the test.

secrets for good grades are:
I make learning an active process. Review notes a few minutes before or after a lecture, listen carefully, and use the book and web to enhance my understanding of the material covered. Before the exam, I make up essay questions over all of the lectures in an attempt to simulate what may be asked on an exam.
