My secrets to get good grades are:

  • I took the previous top scorer's advice and prayed before studying my notes and before taking the test

Jeffrey Michael Pierce
Major: Biology (Pre-Med)
Hometown: Corpus Christi, Texas
Hobbies: saxophone playing,
exercising, beer sampling.

My secrets to get good grades are:

  • I read sections in the book to supplement the lecture notes.
  • Memorizing the notes before quiz isn't impossible, but straight memorization doesn't last in my brain.
  • When I read and see pictures in the book the information is easier to recall and lasts longer.
  • Study the multiple choice questions at the end of each chapter.
  • I study with friends that have weird senses of humor.
  • The bizarre mnemonics and images couldn't get out of my head if I tried to forget them.

Xavier Garcia Rojas
Major: Biology (Pre-Med)
Hometown: Laredo, Texas
Hobbies: writing, electronic entertainment (computers & consoles), philosophizing with friends

My secrets to get good grades are:
  • In addition to the insightful comments already posted by my colleagues, I suggest practising memorization techniques.
  • Learn the web-based lecture notes in their totality.
  • In lectures, enhance those notes with spoken examples.
  • Visiting related links on the internet aids in the association process and cross referencing which leads to longer-term memorization
  • Everyone studies differently. I study best alone in a quiet atmosphere.  Afterwards, discussions and "quizzes" among friends help to reinforce the material.
