Dear High School Computer Science/Math teacher,

The Department of Computer Science at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley is pleased to announce its annual Programming Contest-2020.

The competitions will be held on Saturday February 15, 2020, from 7:45 am to 12:30 pm.

Programming Contest

First - Fifth Place: Trophy for each team and medals for team members of the first three places.

Format:

Teams of up to three students work on their computers solving problems.  A list of problems is given and teams have to write the program solution for as many as they can solve within two hours. Judges evaluate their solutions and assign points according to the complexity of the problem. The team with most points is the winner.

Each team is required to bring their own equipment: hardware, software, flash drives, reference manuals, extension cords, power strips, paper and three-prong adapters. Choice of programming language is left up to each team but must be C/C++ or Java. Each team is limited to at most two reference books, but can bring an unlimited amount of paper, pencils, etc.
