SIAM TX-LA Workshop on Dynamical Systems and Simulations with Applications

Welcome

The goal of the workshop is to provide a relaxing environment for experts and students to share recent results, projects, and future directions in the interdisciplinary area of Dynamical Systems.

Theoretical, computational, and numerical talks in pure and applied mathematics, statistics, physics, engineering, medical sciences, and related areas are welcomed. The talks will be 30 minutes and students are invited to submit a poster presentation.

The workshop is supported by the SIAM-TX-LA section and the UTRGV College of Sciences and School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences. The workshop will be held on Saturday and Sunday, April 25-26, at the Hilton Garden Inn on South Padre Island which provides excellent conditions for work and leisure.

Call for Presentations

You are hereby invited to present at the conference. Please complete the following form with the title and abstract of your presentation and email it to siamworkshopspi2020@gmail.com. Each oral presentation will be 25min long with 5min for Q and A. Student presenters will give a poster presentation, and some may be invited to also give an oral presentation.

The conference will be hosted at the Hilton Garden Inn South Padre at South Padre Island, TX, where a block of rooms has been reserved for April 24, 2020 - April 26, 2020. South Padre Island can be reached from the Harligen Airport or the Brownsville Airport via shuttle.

Registration

Registration is open up to the time of the conference. The registration fee will cover coffee breaks and dinner. Lunch is available, within walking distance, at Clayton's Beach Bar and Event Venue.

  • FREE for students
  • $50 for SIAM members
  • $55 for non-SIAM members

Various Tips

  • No State Tax: Conference participants that are employed by Texas state universities are not supposed to pay state hotel tax at the hotels. Please download, fill out, and provide the form Texas Hotel Occupancy Tax Exemption Certificate at the hotel check in.
  • Border Patrol: Due to our proximity with the border, be sure to have your immigration documents or proof of citizenship with you, whether you travel by car or airplane. E.g. here is one of the border patrol checkpoints. You will need documents for the return trip, even if you are travelling by airplane.
