TExES Assignment

This assignment is intended to prepare students for the TeXeS/English Language Arts and Reading/Secondary.

1. Choose a short work (prose or poetry) or a passage from a longer work (poetry, novel, play). The work must be from pre-1800 British literature.

2. Interpret this work, citing at least two secondary sources (about 350-500 words)

3. Create an assignment(s) that is based on the work. Specify the purpose, grade, class, and school (preferably, a "real" school, at which you perhaps teach). Also specify the purpose of the assignment as it relates to at least 3 TEKS competencies. You can access these competencies at http://www.tea.state.tx.us/index2.aspx?id=6148&menu_id=720&menu_id2=785

4. Explain how this assignment demonstrates your mastery of at least three of the competencies that are listed as part of educator standards. A complete list of educator standards/competencies can be accessed at: http://cms.texes-ets.org/texes/prepmaterials/tests-at-a-glance/

6. Due two weeks before the end of the semester (excluding day of final exam).
