Historiography & Historical Methods
This course provides an introduction to the professional practice of history and to the meta-knowledge involved in historical reasoning, past and present.
Upon completion of this course, the successful student will:
have a firm grasp of what historiography is and how to engage in historiographical analysis;
be able to identify, evaluate, and analyze both primary and secondary documents;
be fully competent in using professional forms of source documentation;
be able to produce an extended, research-driven essay;
present professional research in forms customary for professional historians.
